02 Company setup

Add your company details

The company profile supplies contractor details for customer-facing estimate PDFs.

  1. 01

    Open or create a workspace

From your dashboard, create a workspace with a name you recognize, or open one you already have. The workspace opens the four-step estimate setup.

    Open dashboard
  2. 02

    Complete Company details

Enter your company name and business email. Add a phone number if you want it on the PDF. Logo initials can be up to four letters or numbers; leave them blank to use initials from your company name.

  3. 03

    Save the profile

Choose Save business details. The profile is saved to your contractor account and is used for estimate PDFs.

03 Pricing defaults

Set labor rates, markups, and overhead

Use your own current business figures. The fields use dollars and percentages, not whole cents.

  1. 01

    Open Pricing defaults

In the workspace setup, select Pricing defaults. Enter the standard customer labor rate and actual labor cost in USD per hour, material and labor markup as percentages, and default overhead as a USD amount per job.

  2. 02

Review how each value is used

Material markup is applied to material cost. For labor, the estimate uses whichever is greater: the customer hourly charge you enter, or actual labor cost plus labor markup. Default overhead is added to a new estimate as an expense line.

  3. 03

    Save your defaults

Choose Save pricing defaults. During first-time setup, type 0 when the customer rate, actual labor cost, or material markup is intentionally zero; blank labor markup and overhead resolve to zero.

04 Customer and job records

Add a customer and a job

Customers and their jobs are stored inside the selected private workspace.

  1. 01

    Open Customer and job

Select an existing customer, or add one with a name. Customer email and phone are optional.

  2. 02

Add a job for that customer

Select the customer first, then enter a job name. Location is optional. Choose Add job to save it.

  3. 03

Choose both records for an estimate

Select the customer and one of that customer’s jobs, then choose Continue to estimate.

05 Estimate workflow

Create, save, reopen, and edit an estimate

An estimate is attached to the customer and job you select in the workspace.

  1. 01

    Choose a customer and job

In the estimate step, select a customer and one of that customer’s jobs. Add either record in the previous setup step if it is not listed.

  2. 02

    Enter the estimate details

Add an estimate name, project description, payment terms, material lines, labor lines, and any expenses. Complete the fields on each line you use and review the calculated total.

  3. 03

    Save and reopen

Choose Save estimate. To reopen a saved estimate, expand Saved estimates and select its row; the saved inputs load back into the editor.

  4. 04

    Edit the saved estimate

Change the fields you need, then choose Save changes. This updates the selected estimate. Pricing defaults changed later do not replace its saved inputs.

06 Customer-facing PDF

Generate and share an estimate PDF

Generate the PDF from a saved estimate after checking its customer, job, profile, and amounts.

  1. 01

    Save the estimate first

After saving, use Open PDF to view the document or Download PDF to save a copy. Reopen a saved estimate from the list to find its PDF actions again.

  2. 02

    Use device sharing if available

Share PDF opens your device’s file-sharing option when supported. Otherwise, it downloads the file so you can share it from your device files.

  3. 03

Check the document before sending it

The generated document includes the customer and job, estimate name and date, contractor name and business email, a line-item summary and total, project description, and payment terms. Customer contact details and contractor phone appear when saved.
